The trial requires a card at signup even though the amount charged is $0. Two practical reasons:
- The trial hands out 100 validated contacts of real, verified data. A card is the cheapest honest barrier against the same person claiming that hundreds of times.
- It means day 8 is seamless. If the product works for you, nothing breaks at the moment you would otherwise have to stop and re-enter details.
What actually happens with the card:
- At checkout, your card is validated by Stripe. You may see a temporary authorization hold from your bank, which is not a charge and disappears on its own.
- During the seven days, no amount is taken.
- On day 8, the first Starter charge is made, unless you cancelled before then.
Card details never touch Argorant servers. The checkout and the billing portal are hosted by Stripe, and we store only the subscription reference.
You can replace the card at any point during the trial from Profile → Billing using 'Manage billing'. Doing so does not restart or extend the trial.
If you want to evaluate without a card at all, use the agent path instead: 25 starter credits, no subscription, no card.
