My export is stuck or taking a long time

What background processing means and when to worry.

Exports are not a simple file dump. Every address is verified live at the moment the export is created, or served from a check taken within the last 60 days. That is the step that takes the time, and it is the reason the file does not bounce.

  1. Leave the page. Large exports process in the background. Closing the tab does not cancel anything.
  2. Check Exports. Every export is listed with its status, and finished files stay downloadable there permanently.
  3. Refresh once rather than repeatedly starting new exports. Duplicate exports of the same list do duplicate work.
  4. From the CLI, use argorant export status and then argorant export download to pick up the same file.

Expect larger exports to take proportionally longer. A few dozen contacts is quick; tens of thousands is a job you start and collect later, which is exactly why the Exports page exists.

Credits are only counted for verified contacts that actually make it into the file. Addresses that fail verification are excluded and cost nothing, so a slow export is never quietly spending on rows you will not receive.

If an export has genuinely not moved for a long time, send its entry from the Exports page to support@argorant.com rather than retrying it repeatedly.
